Hyatt Regency Crystal City turns to WiSuite Hotel Energy Management to improve energy consumption while enhancing guest comfort.
DETROIT, MI September 6, 2018—With its 2020 Environmental Sustainability Vision, Hyatt set the goal of reducing energy use and greenhouse gas emissions by 25% compared to 2006. The 687-room Hyatt Regency Crystal City near Washington, D.C. is doing its part to meet this goal, thanks to help from WiSuite Hotel Energy Management.
The WiSuite solution was a key success factor in a recent renovation project at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, focused on reducing the hotel’s environmental footprint and its energy spend. The system combines occupancy status information provided by the hotel’s property management system (PMS) with in-room sensor data from WiSuite’s network of touchscreen smart thermostats. Hyatt Regency Crystal City operations staff can now use the WiSuite Intelligent Network (WIN) to optimize energy efficiency and comfort in every guestroom.
An automated approach to guest comfort
Because the hotel is a destination for travelers from around the world with high expectations, guest comfort is paramount. When a guest checks in, the WiSuite system automatically takes the room out of energy savings mode and initiates a predefined comfort mode. This capability is enabled by WiSuite’s “out of the box” integration with leading hotel PMS systems, simplifying deployment and accelerating time to benefit.
“Hyatt is recognized throughout the hospitality industry for its environmental leadership. When planning our renovation of Hyatt Regency Crystal City, we targeted energy efficiency as a top priority,” said Michael Bartsch, Director of Engineering for the Hyatt Regency Crystal City. “The WiSuite solution provides automated control and comprehensive visibility across our entire HVAC infrastructure. As a result, we’re easily able to meet our efficiency goals and maintain the high level of comfort our guests demand. The ROI on WiSuite is very compelling.”
“Partnering with the Hyatt Regency Crystal City to achieve its sustainability goals has been a fantastic experience,” said WiSuite CEO John Gallant. “This project is a dramatic demonstration of WiSuite’s ability to achieve ambitious goals for both energy efficiency and guest management, at scale. We look forward to other high-profile projects with companies as respected as Hyatt.”
